Faculty Development Office is dedicated to enhancing faculty skills and competencies by developing a robust professional development system. The goal is to develop a complete framework for providing comprehensive professional development to SJBSM faculty and strengthening their roles as clinical educators and educational scholars, thereby providing opportunities for professional growth and faculty retention. This, in turn, leads to increased effectiveness among faculty and improved academic outcomes for students.
The Faculty Development Needs Assessment results identified gaps in faculty skills and knowledge. Key areas include effective teaching/learning strategies, technology integration, instructional design/assessment methods, and scientific communication/writing. Under the PPOHA Title V grant, a Faculty Studio/Digital classroom and Faculty Conference Room were created and equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Experts lead interactive workshops and presentations designed to support faculty development across all graduate and undergraduate faculty levels. Faculty development is a component of the SJBSM PPOHA Title V project.
