The Associate Deanship of Clinical Sciences (ADCS), works to create a safe and professional learning climate for students, faculty and affiliated Institutions. Provide experiential learning with an adequate educational environment, learning resources, teaching Faculty, and School Policies Compliance. Represents the School of Medicine in all organizations regarding clinical medical education. The Associate Deanship of Clinical Science coordinates students’ educational program during the clinical years and supervises the academic performance of each student. As a result, the office provides the official liaison between the students at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine and the affiliated Institutions. The Deanship in coordination with the Third- and fourth-year students program Director Office coordinates the clerkship rotations with the affiliated Institution. The Deanship office, assists on all standing committees that directly work with students, including the Curriculum Committee, Students Promotions Committee, Graduate Medical Education, Continuing Medical Education and faculty credentials process. In addition, it collaborates with the Residency Programs thru the Residents as Teachers Program

Clinical Sciences Departments

Surgery

Expose and provide medical students with a global view of surgical conditions and therapeutic alternatives.

Emergency Medicine

The department sponsor require elective of four credits. Each student basically will rotate one week in every basic specialty (pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, ob-gyn).

Family Medicine

Apply the principles of basic sciences in the analysis and study of the clinical problems in a community base focus.

Internal Medicine

Offers the courses of physical diagnosis and rotation in Internal Medicine during third and fourth year.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dedicated to inspire, instruct and promote medical students on women’s health care. El resto del segundo párrafo se queda igual.

Pediatrics

The Pediatric Clerkship is an 8-week-rotation where students acquire the basic knowledge and skills to diagnose and treat the most common pediatric conditions. Students are exposed to children and their families in the different units of the hospital and at the Early Intervention Clinics offered by the Puerto Rico Health Department-Caguas Region, located within the premises of the Hospital.

Psychiatry

Covers the history of psychiatry, the emotional development of people throughout their life cycle, including biological and psychological aspects, the development and meaning of symptoms; reaction to sickness, and treatment, including psychological, somatic and interdisciplinary modalities.

Radiology

The Department of Radiology offers an outstanding education and clinical service program under the Direction of Dr. Mario Polo.
