Tutoring Program

San Juan Bautista School of Medicine developed the tutorships program to offer students the opportunity to receive assistance in disciplines where they are encountering difficulties. The tutorships program is compulsory for those students recommended by the Faculty, and it is considered part of the course in which they take the tutorial. The recommendation is based on the student's personal accomplishments, quizzes, class participation and the grade obtained in the first partial exam. Any student with an average 70% or less in the first partial exam will be asked to participate in the tutorship program.

The Basic Sciences Tutorships Handbook describes the Tutorships Coordinator duties, as well as the rules that must be followed by students, (Detailed information in the Tutorships Handbook).

The following rules apply the Tutorships Program:

  • The tutorships program is compulsory.
  • The responsibility of Faculty members to participate in the program is included as part of their appointment.
  • A Faculty member is appointed to coordinate tutorships.
  • Students that will serve as tutors will be selected according to their accomplishments in different courses.
  • The student tutors will be paid for their services. Before starting their tutorships, they must sign a contract with San Juan Bautista School of Medicine.
