Student Organizations

The Dean of Student Affairs encourages and promotes development of student organizations. Any group of students interested in forming an organization or association, in accordance with the objectives of San Juan Bautista School of Medicine, be of a religious, sports or academic character, should submit the corresponding request to the Dean of Student Affairs, indicating the purposes of it, in order to be certified as bonafide.

At present, the School has two recognized student organizations: the General Student Council and the Medical Students Association for Community Health Improvement (MSACHI). Next you find a description of the objectives of each organization.

General Student Council

The General Student Council encourages the participation of students in issues of their interest and related to San Juan Bautista School of Medicine. It constitutes the official forum for the analysis and discussion of students' needs and aspirations, and for their expression regarding issues of the academic community.

The students who wish to participate as members of the General Student Council must comply with the requirements established in the Students' Manual. Each academic level has representation in this organization, and students elect their representatives.

Medical Student Association for Community Health Improvement (MSACHI)

The Medical Student Association for Community Health Improvement (MSACHI) was founded in March 2001. Its commitment is to conduct activities that provide students with opportunities to share experiences with the Caguas community. Its slogan is "Caring for our community by promoting health". Its program of activities include conferences and workshops related to the health care. MSACHI is one of the efforts, which seeks to create an academic, community-based, medical education environment, promoting active community participation.
