The Counselor has the responsibility of providing counseling services to students, individually or in groups, with the intention of helping them identify and solve situations that affect them, and that in some way may obstruct their academic progress and personal growth. The Counselor may refer those cases that she understands correspond to the Faculty or other specialized professionals. She does not interfere in academic problems since these must be brought to the Associate Dean for Basic Sciences or the Associate Dean for Clinical Sciences, whichever is appropriate. In doing so, Faculty members have been identified who will help students regarding problems related to the advancement of the academic program.
