Goals and Objectives

To achieve its Mission the SJBSM will accomplish the following goals:
- Offer and maintain an interdisciplinary, updated primary care medical education program of a moral, humanistic, community-based and ethical nature with high academic and scientific standards.
- Focus the medical education curriculum on professionalism and humanistic community-bases medicine, within a continuous and coordinated framework for patient care.
- Create an academic community-based medical education environment that is conducive to academic freedom and commitment to excellence where medical students, faculty, and support personnel are motivated to learn, teach, and collaborate.
- Provide medical students with research experience related to community-bases and primary care medicine, and basis sciences.
- Operate as an academic health services center that promotes active community participation.
- Provide and adequate distribution of resources and a solid financial basis to support the medical education program.
- Develop and maintain an outcomes assessment program, at both the institutional and academic levels, that promotes continuous quality improvement.
- Increase the use of technology in the learning processes, administration, and health services.
- Strengthen and integrate the planning processes in decision-making and institutional development.
